This will be due to a certain formatting or character within the document itself.
You can open the document and copy all of the contents and paste the it into a new Notepad document. Then, if you save the Notepad file and try to process this new Notepad file, the issue should no longer occur.
The reason being is Notepad does not support any formatting functions so when you were attempting to import the original document and the process was failing to extract the data due to the unreadable formatting/characters, the Notepad document will not support any special formatting or character so the contents within the Notepad will only contain raw characters.
