Email CV Error

This article explains what to do if, when you try to email a CV out from Profile you get the error: Program Error w_sd_email_link_send.wf_process_attachments

The full error:
Program Error
w_sd_email_link_send.wf_process_attachments
Unable to copy file from
*Location of original CV*
to
* C:\Users\...\John Smith

- PDF CV.PDF*

Profile will attempt to place the Candidates name on the CV file name as you can see above with John Smith.

The identifying item here is that the name of the file "John Smith - PDF CV.PDF" should be one line of information but as you can see, the name of this CV is split into two lines following the Candidates name. This suggests the name of the candidate is not correctly being processed.

We suggest heading into the Candidates record and highlighting the whole Display Name field within the General Tab. This will identify if there is any spaces or tabs within the end of name which will need to be removed. If there is no characters at the end of the Display Name, next is to backspace at the end of the name and see if the final character name disappears as there might be a character at the end of the Display Name that cannot be displayed.

The reason why this is caused is when the Candidate is created, either the CV Process or text that is used to populate the Display Name can contain special characters that cannot be read by Profile or Word. When you attempt to use the email function and attach their CV, Profile will create a temporary copy of this CV but as the name has special characters within the Display Name, the name of the CV will not be supported and the outcome fails.

If you require assistance if you encounter this issue, please raise a new online case with the Profile Support desk.
